Why is High-Content Organic™ Better?

“Organic” is one of the most misunderstood words in skincare. Sometimes it means an ingredient was grown without certain pesticides. Sometimes it’s used loosely to suggest “natural.” And sometimes it’s simply mistaken for “organic chemistry,” which has nothing to do with farming.
That’s why we don’t label our formulas “100% organic.” In real skincare manufacturing, almost nothing is truly 100% organic from start to finish, especially when a formula needs to be stable, safe, and effective. Instead, we focus on what matters: how much of the formula is made from organically grown, nutrient-dense botanicals.
What “High-Content Organic” means
At Gunilla of Sweden®, our approach is simple: start with plants, not water. Most skincare formulas begin with water as the main ingredient, then add small amounts of extracts. Our formulas are different.
For nearly 40 years, we’ve used hydroponically grown aloe vera as the foundation of our skincare because it allows us to grow aloe in a clean, controlled environment and deliver a base that’s naturally soothing and skin-supportive.
Every product we make contains at least 50% oil-free botanical content, led by aloe vera (plus additional plant-based ingredients, depending on the formula). That’s what we mean by High-Content Organic™: not a marketing claim that everything is organic, but a transparent commitment to truly botanically based formulas.
Why we chose hydroponic aloe in the first place
We began focusing on hydroponically grown botanicals decades ago for one reason: performance with gentleness. When aloe is the base (instead of water), it helps support sensitive skin while still allowing high-performance ingredients to do their job. It’s one of the reasons our formulas can feel calming, even when they’re designed to deliver real results.
Two brands, one philosophy
Whether you’re using GUNILLA® for plant-based anti-aging and daily skincare, or LEROSETT® for acne care, our philosophy stays consistent: create formulas that are nutrient-rich, thoughtfully made, and built around botanicals whenever possible.
Bottom line: We don’t call our skincare “organic” just because it sounds good. We call it High-Content Organic™ because a significant portion of its ingredients are organically grown, botanically based, and selected for real skin benefits.
